Le Pen’s group joins Viktor Orban’s “Patriots for Europe” in EU Parliament as ANOTHER group gets going

.

ER Editor: We normally find this sort of story to be like watching paint dry. However, the rejigging of the EU Parliamentary groups is starting to get interesting as we witness a large alliance forming under Orban’s new Patriots for Europe group, while others are being excluded, such as Giorgia Meloni’s party (she’s a globalist). We’re watching carefully for those exclusions since they could be very indicative of fake populists. What about the Polish PiS? That seems to be excluded, too. Change from within.

France24 gives a decent summary while at the same time showing typical MSM paranoia: Le Pen, Orban and the ‘Patriots for Europe’: Is the EU being undermined from within? Italy’s Northern League party under Matteo Salvini is also part of this new, Orban-led formation.

And just to make things even more confusing, ANOTHER RIGHT-WING GROUP has been formed within the EU Parliament. Interestingly, this includes the Alternative fur Deutschland (AfD) party, as well as Eric Zemmour’s Reconquete (Reconquest) party. Zemmour, as we have noted before, was funded by the Rothschilds at arm’s length. He sank in the recent French elections. See —

New far-right group led by Germany’s AfD founded in European Parliament

A new far-right group, Europe of Sovereign Nations, has been founded in the European Parliament, its newly-elected leader said Wednesday.

The alliance, which counts 25 MEPs among its ranks, is led by Germany’s far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) and Poland’s Confederation, and is also comprised of MEPs from Bulgaria’s Revival, France’s Reconquête, Slovakia’s Republic Movement, Hungary’s Our Home Movement, Lithuania’s People and Justice Union, and the Czech Republic’s Freedom and Direct Democracy.

That means two new far-right groups have been founded in the Parliament in the space of a few days. On Monday, Marine Le Pen’s National Rally and Viktor Orbán’s Fidesz joined forces to create the Patriots for Europe group, which largely replaced the Identity & Democracy group, which is now disbanded.

Europe of Sovereign Nations promises to be more radical than the Patriots. (ER: Define ‘radical’.)

Centrist and left-wing political groups are expected to impose a cordon sanitaire on both new groups, blocking their members from holding any influential positions in the next five years. The so-called Sovereignists will be the Parliament’s smallest grouping, with a very limited ability to influence legislation. However, one of the group leaders will be entitled to attend the powerful Conference of Presidents meetings, which set the Parliament’s agenda and handle its internal affairs.

The group’s chief whip is MEP Christine Anderson, a politician we’ve come to respect through the whole Covid debacle.

RN joins Viktor Orban’s “Patriots for Europe” to “refuse the confiscation of our sovereignty”

FRANCE SOIR

In the aftermath of the disillusionment in the legislative elections and while waiting for “the delayed victory” in the words of Marine Le Pen, the National Rally (RN) is galloping back onto the European stage.

The party has announced its support for the new “Patriots for Europe” group, created by Viktor Orban, whose country took over the rotating presidency of the European Union (EU) a week ago. The RN is thus joining the Fidesz, the party of the Hungarian Prime Minister, as well as Austrian and Slovak deputies, considered “extreme right”. This membership has made the “Patriots for Europe” group the third largest in the Brussels Parliament, behind the EPP and the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats. Here again, the Macronist MEPs, members of the Renew group, are losing ground.

Faced with his failure to “occupy Brussels” during the last European elections and to counter the main Member States, particularly on the unfortunate issues of the war in Ukraine, immigration and ecology, Viktor Orban took advantage of the start of the rotating Hungarian presidency of the EU to announce the establishment of his parliamentary group. When the news was announced, he already had the support of Herbert Kickl, leader of the Austrian nationalist party (FPÖ), Andrej Babis, former Czech Prime Minister and founder of a centrist movement (ANO 2011) and Chega, a Portuguese far-right party.

RN and Orban join forces against the “confiscation of sovereignty”

“This new political force (…) will soon be the largest right-wing party in the European Parliament,” Orban said, insisting on his plan to “fight the Brussels elite” who did not “understand the wishes of the voters. (…) This alliance intends to fight against war, migration, inflation and the European Green Deal,” he explained.

For its part, the RN had struck a blow in France during the European elections. The party and its president, Jorban Bardella, had taken the lion’s share, or 31.47% of the votes cast. As soon as the results were announced, President Emmanuel Macron dissolved the National Assembly. While the National Rally came out on top in the first round on June 30, it fell to third place in the second round on Sunday, behind the New Popular Front and Ensemble.

This is not a big deal in Marine Le Pen’s eyes. “The tide is rising, it did not rise high enough this time, but it continues to rise. Our victory is only delayed,” she reacted. While waiting for this, the RN announced, on Sunday evening, its rallying to the new group of “Patriots for Europe”.

As a reminder, its MEPs were already sitting in the Identity and Democracy (ID) group, co-founded in 2019. The largest delegation in terms of number with around thirty elected representatives, the RN will legitimately lead this new parliamentary group. Jordan Bardella was elected president yesterday morning. This group, he claims, “will weigh in the balance of power in Europe, to refuse migratory submersion, punitive ecology and the confiscation of our sovereignty”. “From Monday, our MEPs will fully play their role in an important group”, he added.

This rally was in the air. In May, Marine Le Pen announced the break between the RN and its German ally, the AfD, and the ID group confirmed the exclusion of the German party in the process. The event foreshadowed a recomposition of the so-called conservative or nationalist forces in Brussels.

The 3rd parliamentary group faces the “sanitary cordon”

With this new composition, “Patriots for Europe” become the third largest parliamentary group in Brussels. The EPP, from which Ursula von der Leyen, current President of the European Commission (EC) and well on the way to being re-elected, comes, as well as the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, maintaining control over the European Parliament with around 400 MEPs.

However, the “Patriots for Europe”, which the Spanish Vox have joined, who are slamming the door on the ECR group of Giorgia Meloni and the Polish PiS, are overtaking the Renew group, which includes the Macronist MEPs. The coalition of the Italian Prime Minister, who refused to join forces with the RN and the Hungarian Prime Minister for its positions deemed favorable to Russian President Vladimir Putin, is also the other group overtaken by Viktor Orban’s initiative.

Jordan Bardella’s vice-president, Hungarian Kinga Gal, an MEP since 2004 with the EPP, expressed the ambition of the “Patriots for Europe”. “We intend to have positions that correspond to the millions of voters we represent,” she said in Brussels on Monday, in the absence of the RN president.

Valérie Hayer, chairwoman of the Renew group, announced her intention to counter Orban and his allies. “Our line is extremely clear, we do not negotiate with the extreme right (…) Of course, we will use the cordon sanitaire again,” she said, referring to the strategy aimed at excluding elected members of the ID group from obtaining responsibilities within the institution.  (ER: Once again, conveniently forgetting to mention the exclusion of the millions of people these groupings represent!)

With Hungary holding the EU presidency and the “Patriots of Europe” in Parliament, Viktor Orban, the RN and their new allies intend to weigh in and slow down the work of the 27, particularly on aid to Ukraine, immigration and ecology.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)

2 Comments on Le Pen’s group joins Viktor Orban’s “Patriots for Europe” in EU Parliament as ANOTHER group gets going

  1. Thanks for this! The educated city people everywhere have completely failed to understand anything very much related to the mass of ordinary people, including the plight of the Gilets Jaunes, what ‘Covid’ was really about or the vaccines, Ukraine, etc., etc. Universities are just places of indoctrination for the most part (I used to be part of one – they’re brainwashed in simplistic ways).

  2. (I’ll be back later about your last message)

France : consciousness awakening amongst the priviledged ?
I paste here this article by a comfortable university teacher who suddenly felt too disturbing to keep pretending that the National Rally voters would be just crap.

I find it interesting to transmit to you.
Although he draws a correct picture of the status quo, he makes a wrong diagnosis : he believes he is guilty of monopolizing all wealth and privileges as a big city resident. He has no clue of the real reasons why the “France périphérique” is being sacrificed.
I do not want his guilt !
Such handicapped people are university teachers… Of course he is still far from wondering how he is going to get food to eat if the farmers are eradicated, although he was born himself in a village.

Side note : To me as a native Parisian from native parisian families who still remember the shelter provided to them by farmers during the war, this kind of long teeth people (including “artists” and the like, so-called intellectuals) who have been imported from the country to become “successful” in the capital are too many and dangerous at critical power positions. Their need to forget where they come from drives them to pose as more “Parisian” than the Parisians themselves and oblivious of even their Human origin. This ambitious species cause us old Parisians to be accused of ignoring and despising the rest of the French…
