ER Editor: Is Saskatchewan also eyeing separation from Canada? This seems to be an active theme, following on from talk of Albertan independence, which we recently covered here on May 1 —

The Push for Alberta Independence is On

A reminder that globalist Mark Carney (probably 2.0 by now) got (s)elected on April 28. Alberta and Saskatchewan are likely to be the two provinces most keen to quit the federation.

Here is a Globe and Mail piece from May 1, addressing Saskatchewan independence. Frankly, premier Scott Moe’s ambiguous tone echoes that of Alberta’s Danielle Smith, as in ‘I’m for a united Canada but citizens can vote to leave if they want’. Smith’s Bill 54 has further enabled just such an option (see the article linked to above) —

Moe says he’s Canadian but wouldn’t stop vote on Saskatchewan separating from Canada

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe says he’s a true Canadian but wouldn’t stop a public vote on separating from the country if it came forward.

Residents are allowed to trigger provincial legislation for a plebiscite on the issue, Mr. Moe told reporters Thursday.

“Why would you condemn Saskatchewan people that might have an opinion? I’m not about condemning people,” he said.

“We very much believe there is a path forward to work with the new Prime Minister on ensuring that Saskatchewan can have a growing, vibrant economy … within a strong and united Canada.”

Saskatchewan law allows the public to bring forward a petition for a plebiscite, as long as 15 per cent of eligible voters sign on.

Saskatchewan is the province that wants to leave Canada the most if Liberals win the upcoming election in Canada, a new poll finds.

Around 33 per cent of residents from the central prairie province “say they would vote to leave federation, whether to form their own country or to join the United States,” if Liberals form the next government, according to the survey by nonprofit Angus Reid Institute.

Saskatchewan’s 14 federal ridings have remained entirely Conservative for the past two elections. That could be why the predominantly Conservative province is the most likely to plan an escape route if Liberals win.
