ER Editor: Not many people seem to know this Swiss political figure, federal chancellor Walter Thurnherr. Note he’s a ‘centrist’, usually a bad sign these days. Note that the former health minister who became president, Alain Berset, had already announced he was stepping down.
Informed back channel sources have told us to watch either big name politicians stepping down or that government policies will suddenly change. In terms of big name politicians, we have already seen this happen to, as mentioned, Alain Berset, Sanna Marin of Finland, Jacinda Ardern, Nicola Sturgeon, Mark Rutte and Franz Timmermans. All globalist stooges.

The Federal Chancellor steps down. The centrist Walter Thurnherr announced Wednesday his retirement for the end of the year.
The 60-year-old from Aargau headed the Federal Chancellery for eight years. He succeeded Corina Casanova in 2016. The centrist had been the only candidate for this position. The former PDC had asserted its right to this function, arguing that it was the “party of balance”.
His successor will be appointed on December 13, at the same time as the successor to the President of the Confederation Alain Berset.

Thurnherr, 60, told journalists in Bern on Wednesday that his decision to bow out was not due to any political ill will, but that it was time to move on after decades in the civil service.

As head of the Federal Chancellery, Thurnherr is responsible for planning and coordinating government business. While not the equivalent of one of the seven cabinet ministers, he nevertheless takes part in weekly government meetings, where he has an advisory role – but no voting rights.

Federal Bern is waking up from the summer break with a bang: Federal Chancellor Walter Thurnherr will publicly announce his resignation today. This morning he announced his departure at the first Federal Council meeting after the holidays, as this editorial team has learned from two well-informed sources.
Thurnherr, formally something like the chief of staff of the state government, was often considered the eighth Federal Councilor. Although he does not have the right to vote in Federal Council meetings, he attends all meetings. In public, he made a name for himself primarily with polished, rhetorically good speeches.
Thurnherr’s resignation comes as a complete surprise because he is only 60 years old. He now requires a by-election on December 13, the same day that the successor to SP Federal Councilor Alain Berset, who announced his resignation in June, will be determined. Thurnherr belongs to the center party, which is compensated to some extent for the fact that it only has one seat in the Federal Council.
