ER Editor: In France, we’ve been treated to a number of dramatic tactics over the runup to the upcoming elections (round 1 is TODAY), one of which was to ‘leak’ that the ‘tyrannical’ Macron was talking about triggering Article 16 of the French constitution to hold onto power if his party didn’t get a majority.
Could Macron activate Article 16? French Pre-election Drama takes a different turn
We said,
There are basically two conditions under which Article 16 could be triggered by the sitting President upon completion of the elections where his own party does not have a majority: a threat of insurrection in the country, or where public institutions and authorities can no longer function normally. There is actually a precedent for this – during De Gaulle’s time, as the articles below illustrate. Macron’s other option in this situation, as a President without a parliamentary majority, is simply to resign.
It’s not far-fetched to supposed that the Antifa crowd could be ‘activated’ to create insurrection-type conditions, thus giving Macron the excuse he needs.
However, the Duran team of Alex Christoforou, and analyst and former barrister Alexander Mercouris give a more low-key take on the matter, with Mercouris expecting Macron to simply resign, as well as Le Pen getting a majority in the National Assembly (see his reasons why). It’s a short video of just 9 minutes. We’ll let it speak for itself. Mercouris notes – tentatively – that Le Pen’s party is polling at around 36%.
This is the Bloomberg (MSM) take on Macron that Christoforou refers to —
Emmanuel Macron Goes From Towering to Toxic in France
Notice that this toxicity, which Mercouris discusses, parallels pretty much the moment at which Biden is seen as an utter disaster following the debate with Trump this past Thursday. Useless Rishi Sunak is expected to be ditched in the UK elections next Thursday. Curious, neat timing.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
