Why Is Lebanon Being Targeted?

ER Editor: We are putting together two recent stories, one from the BBC and one from Thierry Meyssan’s site Voltairenet.org, with no particular answer to the question why Lebanon is being targeted. But it would seem to be the case.

For a deep dive into current problems, see this from middleeast.in-24.com: A financial, political and electrical darkness in Lebanon..so far the solutions are “prosthetics”!

Lebanon left without power as grid shuts down

Lebanon has been left without electricity, plunging the country into darkness amid a severe economic crisis.

A government official told Reuters news agency the country’s two largest power stations, Deir Ammar and Zahrani, had shut down because of a fuel shortage.

Lebanon has been left without electricity, plunging the country into darkness amid a severe economic crisis.

A government official told Reuters news agency the country’s two largest power stations, Deir Ammar and Zahrani, had shut down because of a fuel shortage.

The power grid “completely stopped working at noon today” and was unlikely to restart for several days, they said.

For the past 18 months Lebanon has endured an economic crisis and extreme fuel shortages.

That crisis has left half its population in poverty, crippled its currency and sparked major demonstrations against politicians.

A lack of foreign currency meanwhile has made it hard to pay overseas energy suppliers.

Many Lebanese people already depend on private diesel-powered generators for power. These, however, have become increasingly expensive to run amid the lack of fuel, and cannot cover for the lack of a nationwide power grid.

People were often receiving just two hours of electricity a day in the country before this latest shutdown.

Lebanon’s bankruptcy deliberately caused by IMF under Christine Lagarde’s watch

According to the Swiss Le Temps, the Lebanon Central Bank had known since 2016 that the country was headed toward bankrupcy [1]. Sensitive information was covered up by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) at the request of Riad Salameh. So, inexorably, the predicted disaster came to pass.

On 9 April 2016, the IMF representative for Lebanon, Spanish national Alvaro Piris, submitted an interim report to Central Bank governor Riad Salameh. This document sounded the alarm bells. However, at Mr. Salameh’s behest, the IMF redacted the 14 most crucial pages.

At the time, the IMF was headed by French-born Lagarde, now president of the European Central Bank [2].

It therefore appears that the bankruptcy of Lebanon could have been avoided, but was allowed to happen because of the collusion between Riad Salameh and the IMF. It is not simply a question of mismanagement and corruption: the bankruptcy of Lebanon came about as the result of a conspiracy involving the leaders of the IMF. Only a handful of insiders were able to bail themselves out.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)

1 Comment on Why Is Lebanon Being Targeted?

  1. Convicted criminal CL seems to have had the funds at her fingertips that would have solved the problems of Lebanon at a stroke. Who got the money ?

If we don’t vaccinate the whole world, it will come back to haunt us and hurt us in the form of new variants.

We have spent, in fiscal support, somewhere around $6 trillion. What is needed is 1% of that in order to vaccinate the whole world.
