Ukraine attempting to walk away from Geneva Convention
Ukraine is attempting to abandon the implementation of the Geneva Convention related to its prisoners of war.

KIEV – There are reports from various Russian sources that the Ukrainian authorities are urging Western backers to encourage the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and various international humanitarian NGOs to abandon attempts to gain access to Russian prisoners of war.
The leadership of Ukraine confided in Britain that it did not intend to comply with the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War. The International Red Cross has meanwhile disclaimed any involvement in “the forced evacuation of the Ukrainian population to Russia”.
In response, the British Foreign Office recommended that the Ukrainians organize visits by the ICRC to at least some Russian prisoners. It was emphasized that this would make it possible to save the crumbling image of the Ukrainian authorities in the eyes of the world community and partially mitigate the negative consequences of publicizing the torture of captured servicemen.
Western countries, in turn, are ready to assist in organizing a trip to the place of detention of prisoners of war by a group of “trustworthy” representatives of the ICRC.
Ukrainian President Zelensky’s government earlier lashed out against the office of the International Red Cross, which was slated to open in Rostov-on-Don, in Russia, to deal with the influx of Ukrainian refugees fleeing to Russia.
“Unsurprisingly, the Ukrainian government has already rejected any humanitarian corridor leading to Russia and threatens any real Ukrainian escaping to Russia to be tried for treason. He closed the Mariupol humanitarian corridor last week, preferring to see his population entrapped by the banderites (“neo-Nazis” according to Kremlin terminology)” according to Thierry Meyssan.

Has Ukraine even signed the Geneva Conventions?
They only apply to signatory nations.
P.S. Ukraine hasn’t got the means to care for ITS OWN people in this debacle, citizen victims of a RUSSIAN war of aggression, so where would it get the means to care for people who had in fact attacked it?
This is not to agree with the alleged position, or to disagree; but the question is, I think, obvious. WHY should Ukraine be expected co comply with any war-related international “law” when the UN has abandoned Ukraine to a violent war on that country by RUSSIA defying international “law”? What’s good for the goose is good for the gander, as they say.
