Humza Yousaf resigns as Scotland’s first minister

.

ER Editor: Another one bites the dust.

A reminder that in Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon stepped down in 2023 amid a funding scandal within her Scottish National Party (SNP) as Al Jazeera points out below. Further, her husband Peter Murrell was just arrested on embezzlement charges for a sum above half a million pounds. WEF stable boy and man of color Leo Varadkar stepped down as Ireland‘s PM in March, as well as his deputy this month, Simon Coveney. Now it’s another ‘man of color’, Scotland’s Humza Yousaf, to resign for no particularly good reason – except his principles (he claims).

Notice how the globalists always pick the youngest man or women ever to lead – Varakdar, Yousaf, Macron, now French PM Gabriel Attal, Kurz (Austria) Sanna Marin (Finland), or they’ve got a skin color, or a penis in the case of Jacinda Ardern. And usually they’re not bad-looking. But curiously, they keep leaving.

This surely has to be scripted!

Nick Griffin makes the point so well

And then there’s his hate crime bill —

Zerohedge picked up the story yesterday, making reference to the Hate Crime legislation —

‘Anti-White’ Scottish First Minister Quits After Disastrous ‘Hate Crime Law’

Of note:

Keep in mind that Scotland is 96% white.  For most people logic would dictate that having a majority white government makes perfect sense given Scotland’s demographics.  This is something that Yousef and his progressive ilk have set out to change.

At the beginning of 2024 the former First Minister sought to launch a pro-migrant propaganda campaign, claiming that open immigration policies lead to economic benefits for Scotland.  Of course, as with all politicians that make this assertion, he offered no concrete statistics to support the theory.

Beyond his insistence on going against the growing public opposition in Scotland to more migrants being allowed into the country, Yousaf’s biggest mistake was the passage of his now wildly unpopular “Hate Crime Act.”  The law which recently went into effect criminalized many forms of speech including criticism or skepticism of gender fluid theory and trans identity.  Misgendering and misuse of a trans person pronouns could now land a Scottish citizen in jail.

In response, the Scottish public flooded law enforcement agencies with fake calls accusing various trans activists and even political leaders of various hate crimes.  Police were so overwhelmed by the paperwork that any effort to enforce the law has ground to a halt.

As we have detailed again and again (herehere, and here), his hate-crime law was an utter disaster – that everyone saw coming – and before his resignation, just 29 per cent of Scottish National Party voters believe Yousaf is doing a good job, while 36 per cent think he has been poor in office. Consequently, Yousaf’s popularity among his own voters is now minus seven, down from plus 14 in January, a massive drop.

Politico.eu, tongue-in-cheek, had this to say —

LONDON — Humza Yousaf’s resignation as Scottish first minister after just a year in power sees him join a growing pantheon of British political leaders leaving office when they’ve only just got started.

The number of defenestrations has shot up this side of the millennium, bringing the retirement age for U.K. politicians crashing down.

Humza Yousaf resigns as Scotland’s first minister

Yousaf’s decision comes as he faces likely defeat in two forthcoming confidence votes brought by opposition parties.

Humza Yousaf has resigned as the Scottish National Party (SNP) leader and Scotland’s first minister.

The move comes soon after Yousaf ended the SNP’s alliance with the Scottish Greens, which triggered two no-confidence votes put forward by opposition parties that Yousaf looked likely to lose.

“I am not willing to trade my values and principles or do deals with whomever simply for retaining power,” Yousaf said during a televised announcement.

The pro-independence SNP’s fortunes have faltered amid a funding scandal and the resignation of Nicola Sturgeon as party leader last year. An internal struggle has followed over how progressive the party should pitch its policies as it seeks to woo back voters.

Earlier this month, Yousaf said he was “quite confident” that he could win a no-confidence vote. However, by Monday, his offer of talks with other parties to bolster his minority government was uncertain.

The Muslim head of a major political party and Scotland’s youngest elected leader, Yousaf said he had “underestimated” the level of hurt after ending a power-sharing deal with the Scottish Greens last week.

“I have concluded that repairing the relationship across the political divide can only be done with someone else at the helm,” he said.

Yousaf’s resignation as SNP leader triggers a search for his successor and consequently new first minister. The Scottish Parliament would need to back any replacement in the post within 28 days. An election would be held if no majority is reached.

During his resignation speech, Yousaf called for the leadership contest to find his replacement to start as soon as possible. He will remain in place as first minister until then.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
