Human Rights Lawyer: Olympic Boxer’s “Cyberbullies” Lawsuit A Threat To Free Speech

ER Editor: Notice how Brand Elon gets used again? He’s been in the headlines a lot in the last month. As has chromosomally male Algerian boxer, Imane Khelif. Once again, this is being played where Elon champions free speech. Cue, J.K. Rowling (now being used as a brand?), with a few tweets below reminding us of the author’s contribution to the Biological Women Exist debate.

Notice also that the legal case brought by Khelif has the possible repercussion of shutting down free speech online globally. This is a similar threat to the one Sir Mark Rowley crazily put out against Musk. Would France be able to extradite people for such offences if they are proved to be so?

(Somebody else pointed this out already, but notice the Algerian boxer’s first name looks like ‘I man’. A comm?)

A biologist has come to the defense of Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling after she made comments referencing biological sex as the standard for how a man or woman is defined.

French authorities to investigate Algerian boxer Khelif’s cyberbullying charges against Elon Musk, J.K. Rowling

The French police’s hate crimes unit will investigate Algerian boxer Imane Khelif’s charges of cyberbullying on the grounds of gender.

The Paris prosecutor instructed them to do so on Wednesday after Khelif filed a complaint Monday with France’s national center for combating online hate.

In an interview with Variety on Tuesday, Khelif’s attorney Nabil Boudi revealed that the criminal complaint names J.K. Rowling and Elon Musk, as they referred online to Khelif as a man in questioning her eligibility to participate in the Olympics. Boudi described the online hate center as part of Paris’ correctional court.

The attorney also noted that the lawsuit was filed against X, which under French law means that it was filed against unknown persons. That “ensure[s] that the ‘prosecution has all the latitude to be able to investigate against all people,” Boudi said.
