Iran dresses down Euro envoys for ‘double standards’ over Israel strikes
All three European powers condemned Iran’s attack on Israel while failing to condemn Israel’s earlier attack on Iran’s Damascus consulate

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on 14 April that it summoned the ambassadors of the UK, Germany, and France following what it described as “the irresponsible positions” of these countries following Iran’s retaliatory overnight strikes on Israel.

“Last night, the action of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran against the military bases of the Zionist regime came under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter and in response to the series of crimes of the Zionist regime, especially the recent attack on the embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the director told the European envoys.
Iran’s missile and drone attack on Israeli military bases came in response to Israel’s bombing of the Iranian consulate in Damascus on 1 April. The Israeli strike killed top Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi and six others on what is considered sovereign Iranian territory under international law.
The British, German, and French ambassadors all condemned the Iranian attack on Israel but opposed a Russian-drafted UN Security Council statement earlier this month that would have condemned Israel’s attack on Iran’s consulate.
Condemning the “double standards” of the three European countries, the director said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran, while reaffirming its adherence to the principles and goals of the United Nations Charter as well as international law, is determined to resolutely defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national interests against any illegal use of force.”
According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Saturday’s missile and drone attack on Israel was “carried out within the framework of the right of self-defense, in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, in response to attacks on Iranian facilities in the region, including the attack on the building of the consular department of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus on April 1, which our country strongly condemned.”
In addition to the 1 April consulate attack, Israel has carried out hundreds of airstrikes in Syria against the Syrian army and allied-armed groups enjoying Iranian assistance in recent years. Syria and Iran have sought to expel US troops illegally occupying northeast Syria with the help of Kurdish proxies from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
