ER Editor: A reminder that France doesn’t have a PM. It’s been veritable political chaos since the 2nd round of the elections were held on July 7, with lots of theatrics in Parliament among leftist parties under the umbrella of NFP (new popular front). No PM was chosen, the Olympics came and went, and there is still no PM.
Popcorn time. The Emperor has no clothes and the French have been permitted to see it.

France Unbowed Party threatens to impeach Macron
RT FRANCE
In France, France Unbowed (LFI) is threatening to initiate impeachment proceedings against President Emmanuel Macron if he does not choose a Prime Minister from the New Popular Front.
In an article published on August 18 in a French newspaper, the leaders of the La France insoumise (LFI) movement announced that they would file a request for impeachment of President Emmanuel Macron if he were not to appoint Lucie Castets to Matignon.
Entitled ‘Remove the president rather than make us submit‘ and signed by Jean-Luc Melenchon, Mathilde Panot and Manuel Bompard, the article enjoins President Macron to ‘take note’ of the result of the legislative elections of July by appointing a candidate from the New Popular Front (NFP – ER: a coalition of French left parties, including LFI) to the post of prime minister.’
‘We give this op-ed a concrete role of solemn warning’, write these three personalities of the French left, accusing President Macron of an ‘institutional coup against democracy’ for not appointing a prime minister from the NFP since the parliamentary elections in July.
By threatening Macron with initiating impeachment proceedings, LFI relies on Article 68 of the Constitution, which authorizes Parliament to impeach the president in the event of ‘breach of duty, manifestly incompatible with the exercise of its mandate’.
The Parti Socialist Washes Its Hands of It
Widely relayed in the French press since the morning, the column has provoked an outcry in the political spheres.
On X, the outgoing minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanin strongly criticized this idea. ‘Wanting the impeachment of the President of the Republic, in the total ignorance of our institutions, reveals the anarchy in which LFI wants to plunge France’, he wrote.
‘LFI still pulls the left towards extremism and leaves the republican field. To be guarantor of the vote of the millions of French who have made dam, it’is to respect the spirit of the institutions!’, wrote the Minister of Justice Eric Dupond-Moretti on X.
For its part, the Socialist Party (PS), one of the components of the NFP, reacted very quickly by refusing to adhere to this threat of impeachment. ‘This forum is signed only by the leaders of LFI. It is only involving their party’, has more soberly commented on X the first secretary PS, Olivier Faure.
President Macron plans to consult political forces on August 23 to form a new government, a month and a half after elections in which the united left of the NFP won 193 seats, ahead of the two rival blocs of the presidential party on the one hand and the National Rally on the other, but far from the absolute majority of 289 seats necessary to govern.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
