RT France declared bankrupt by French court

We’re not entirely sure what is happening at RT France. Back in January, it had its bank accounts frozen and was announced to be closing its operations forthwith. Except it didn’t happen. As of today (April 11), however, the site is not registering new stories after April 7.

As the politico.eu report indicates below, EU sanctions weren’t enough – the site still continued to produce content. So asset-freezing and bankruptcy ensued. Another day in the EU, another day in France.

If you check on Twitter, the RTenfrancais account has been blocked. Wasn’t Twitter supposed to be different? It’s just declared war on Substackers.

PARIS — A French commercial court has officially declared Kremlin-backed media outlet RT France bankrupt, the company’s President Xenia Fedorova announced on Friday.

“The court of Nanterre took the decision to put RT France in liquidation — a media that has not pleased [French President] Emmanuel Macron since its launch and, which was sanctioned by the EU a year ago as a precautionary measure because of the conflict in Ukraine,” Fedorova tweeted Friday evening.

Today, the Nanterre Court took the decision to put RT France into liquidation – a media outlet that has not pleased Emmanuel Macron since its launch and, which was sanctioned by the EU a year ago as a precautionary measure due to the conflict in Ukraine – wiping out our visibility in Europe and then freezing all of our funds and assets to ensure that we no longer produce content.

As a result, more than 100 French employees will be laid off in the next few days.

This is nothing less than the censorship of a media that has given full freedom to journalists, presenters and experts and has never broken any law, but has remained true to its core values, which the French will undoubtedly miss.

I would like to thank all the employees of RT France, those who helped me launch our channel and especially those who stayed until the last moment, fighting for freedom of expression, for the right to inform, for different opinions and points of view. You have all created a unique medium.

In March last year, the EU banned Russian government-funded media like Sputnik and RT, formerly known as Russia Today, from broadcasting in Europe after Russia launched its full-scale war on Ukraine.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)

1 Comment on RT France declared bankrupt by French court

  1. My hunch is it has something to do with this (from Politico, April 8)

“The sanctions, however, didn’t prevent the outlets from producing content. In the past year, the Russian channel continued to produce, publish and broadcast material, increasingly targeted at a francophone audience in African countries such as Mali and Burkina Faso.”

Africa has a big issue with land-grabbing by mega-corps from China, for one; a big issue with maintaining control from vax-obsessed colonialists like Gates; and a bigger issue of trying to maintain Christianity in many of their countries – anathema to the globalists.
