Madagascar: Army and Police Generals Arrested in Plot to Kill President

Senior military and police officials have been arrested in Madagascar in connection with a failed assassination attempt on the country’s president, Andry Rajoelina.

Among those arrested are five generals and several serving police officers, meaning 21 people are now under investigation for last month’s assassination attempt.

Local media said authorities also seized a firearm and $250,000 (£180,000).

The assassination attempt on President Andry Rajoelina is part of the ongoing turmoil on the island.

Madagascar has been under lockdown since the Covid-19 pandemic struck last year and its southern region is in the grip of famine.

Authorities announced last month that they had foiled a plot to “eliminate and neutralise” a number of people, including the president.

The announcement came a month after another failed attempt to kill the national police chief.

Attorney General Berthine Razafiarivony said the latest arrests include 12 “active military and police officers, including five generals, two captains and five non-commissioned officers”.

Four of those arrested are retired national and foreign military and police officers, while the last five are civilians, she said.

Several local and foreign people were arrested last week.

Rajoelina, 47, initially took power in 2009 against Marc Ravalomanana with the support of the army.

He defeated Ravalomanana in the last elections in 2018, although the vote was marred by allegations of fraud.

The former French colony has had a long history of coups and unrest since gaining independence from France in 1960.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)

  1. I am sure mainstream/cabal media will be very effusive in insisting the NWO has nothing to do with this attempted assassination. I would like, however, for these generals and police officers involved in the assassination attempt to be questioned on who was paying them, before they execute them.
