Did the Dutch Health Minister Flee the Country?

ER Editor: We published this on Feb. 1 with accompanying introduction–

Sudden departure of Dutch healthcare minister still a mystery

ER Editor:  Dutch politics has had a few ‘step-downs’ of late. Now they have a health minister no less, a professor and doctor, Ernst Kuipers, who took the country through Covid (or a part of the vaccine phase) from January 2022 onwards, doing a disappearing act. He landed in the ministerial job from years at the Erasmus University Medical Centre, the centre where the Netherlands very own Fauci, Marion Koopmans, hails from. This gives us a total of 8 politicians who have vacated their posts. Are there others?

These are the Dutch health ministers relevant to the Covid period up to the present time (de Jonge isn’t a doctor, Kuipers is):

Kuipers did a literal disappearing act in the early part of January. Now he’s shown up, six weeks later, holding a senior administrative post at at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Allegedly. He begins his role officially on May 1, 2024, which seems a strange time to take over in an academic job. Was room specially made for him? (He’s had professional connections to Singapore since 2021.)

He will formally begin his tenure at NTU on 1 May 2024. He succeeds Prof Luke Ong, who will relinquish his appointment to take on the newly created role of NTU Vice President (AI & Digital Economy). Prof Ong has concurrently been appointed the Founding Dean of NTU’s new College of Computing and Data Science to drive NTU’s ambitions in AI.

Journalist David van Diemen makes two important points: there is no extradition treaty between the Netherlands and Singapore, and Nanyang is indeed listed on the World Economic Forum website.

Or is this all a ruse to wake people up? Just like ‘Joe Biden’ not really being him. We would imagine that all health ministers in many countries during the Covid period are Persons of Interest.

Interesting Sidebar on a Dutch health minister Wikipedia ‘forgot’ to mention

Our Dutch colleague Michel van der Kemp informs us that there was actually one more health minister before former primary school teacher and administrator Hugo de Jonge (see above) took over the health & sports portfolio in 2020 (by March we were all in the first lockdown) —

Technically there was one more health minister. Which is an interesting story in itself to relay.

We had a threat coming from China. Images from Bergamo (Italy). And in March 2020 suddenly we had Corona cases in The Netherlands. During a live broadcast on National TV, then health minister Bruno Bruins was given a note, and he started reading the note. “First case of Corona in The Netherlands”. Bruins excused himself and said he had to leave the broadcast. Much later of course we learned that this was a setup. It had been known there was a ‘case’ even before the broadcast.

In the first debate about Corona in parliament, on March 18th 2020, this happened:

Bruins fainted, or pretended to faint. He never came back as minister, and Hugo de Jonge took over.

Ernst Kuipers: we got him!

Ladies and gentlemen: we got him! That is enough to know who it is. He was completely missing for 6 weeks, Ernst Kuipers, the healthcare minister who announced out of nowhere that he would disappear and did so immediately. Even his party leader and the Prime Minister gave the impression that they had no idea where Kuipers disappeared to.

That has now become clear: Ernst has disappeared to a place with which the Netherlands does not have an extradition treaty: Singapore. There he will become vice chairman of the research department of Nanyang Technological University. The bed king of yesteryear who called the vaccinations ‘an uncontrolled experiment’ fortunately ended up at a WEF university , perhaps that is what Ernst meant by ‘conflict of interest’ when he left the cabinet in a hurry.

Ernst Kuipers, the Big Earner of Hypocrisy, Lands So-called “Top Job” in Singapore

DE DAGELIJKSE STANDAARD

In a world where incompetence is rewarded with mountains of gold, Ernst Kuipers, theformer ‘Minister’ of Health, Welfare and Sport for D66 (obviously, who else?),usurped the jackpot. This man, who fled the Dutch cabinet with his tail between hislegs, has now put his sights beyond shame and set his sights on Singapore.Nanyang Technological University has announced this master of the art of failure astheir newest “distinguished professor” and vice chairman of the research department. Laughable, isn’t it?

Let’s go back to the moment when Kuipers, the so-called healthcare hero, let us down. At thebeginning of this year he suddenly disappeared from the outgoing cabinet, muttering about a ‘top job’ abroad. Of course, as a true D66 member, he left behind a cloud of mystery and speculation. Now the veil has been lifted: Singapore is the place where he expects his pots of gold.

It is an open secret that such positions do not just carry a title. No, the rewards are astronomical. Can you imagine how much Kuipers will rake in with this new role? An amount with so manyzeros that it would make the common man dizzy. For Kuipers, this is nothing less than alucrative cash cow, a reward for his ‘outstanding’ service in the Netherlands.

But let us not forget how this man left his post: like a thief in the night, withoutaccountability to the people he claimed to serve. His departure to Singapore is not only a slap inthe face to everyone who counted on him in these difficult times, but also a shocking exampleof the arrogance and selfishness that characterizes the political elite.

Instead of cleaning up the debris of his failure here, Kuipers opts for a life of luxury abroad. What a disgraceful display of flight behavior and lack of integrity. Ernst Kuipers may take upresidence in Singapore as a ‘leading professor’, but let’s not forget that in the Netherlands hewill mainly be remembered as the minister who ran away when it really mattered.

One thing is certain: the irony of the fact that a figure like Kuipers, whose policies often raisedmore questions than provided answers, now carries the title of ‘prominent’ will not be lost onmany. It is indicative of a time when the value of true competence and integrity in politics isincreasingly searchable.

Kuipers’ adventure in Singapore may be a dream come true for him, but it is a bitter pill forthose who still believe in responsibility and dedication to the people.

The final chapter of this saga has not yet been written, but one thing is clear: ErnstKuipers’ legacy is already marked by his own actions – a flight forward, away from responsibility, towards a ridiculously generous reward.
